In this workshop, participants will explore the potential of feature films for teaching English in the advanced language classroom. Using the example of “Invictus” (dir. Clint Eastwood, 2009), participants will be familiarized with the concept of film literacy and get to know tasks and activities to do with their learners. The film covers events and developments leading up to the Rugby World Cup in 1995. In the second part, the film “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” takes center stage and participants will develop their own teaching ideas for their specific contexts. Grit Alter is Professor of Teaching English as a Foreign Language at the University College of Teacher Education in Innsbruck, Austria. Her research focuses on using picturebooks in primary and advanced English language teaching, diversity education, and critical pedagogy. She is currently involved in projects on textbook studies and narrative inquiry into teacher education as well as doing Master of Science in Existential Pedagogy. #FilmPädagogik #Sprachenlernen #Filme #Englisch #Team_FK30.September 2026
